About the Position
Hello Products is seeking a double threat, supply and demand planner. As the Demand Planner, you will improve the accuracy and reliability of the Demand Plan through projection of the most realistic estimate of customer demand in collaboration with other functions (Sales, Marketing, Finance, eg.) and manage exceptions to enhance the responsiveness of the organization's Supply Chain in fulfilling customer demand. As the Supply Planner, you will help in building the production plans and schedules that reflect demand plans, production constraints, and evaluate alternatives to ensure supply. You will develop intermediate and long-term (18 months) production plans, working closely with marketing, sales and our CMs. You will plan inventory levels that satisfy the
customer service target for product availability and that minimize production, transportation and warehousing costs. You will review weekly sales and finished goods inventory data and advise marketing and distribution colleagues of unexpected sales trends and/or inventory balances. Assist in long-range capacity studies to resolve requirements for new equipment and facilities. You will be the communication link between marketing, procurement, transportation and distribution.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure commitment from all functions, build and maintain good communication and collaboration both within Supply Chain and with Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing and Finance.
- Monthly S&OP best practices including highlighting month to month variances while maintaining and reporting monthly, quarterly and fiscal forecast KPI's.
- Capture, prioritize, analyze Marketing and Sales events; customer, consumer & competitor information; other external / internal trends and influences which impact demand
- Effectively use Demand Planning system to enable an exception-based management approach.
- Maintain system to reflect the lifecycle of products (predecessors, successors, temporary promotional, ...).
- Collaborate with Marketing and Sales by providing input on a regular basis regarding product launches, portfolio optimization, rationale of commercial decisions, promotions and customer behavior.
- Develop and maintain production-planning models, which include materials, resources, capacities and the like.
- Maintain and share slow moving, expiring and obsolete inventory reports. Meet with Sales and Marketing monthly to reduce items on list.
- Work in SAP APO to develop intermediate to long-term master production schedules on a weekly/monthly basis that achieve targeted service to customers and inventory levels.
- Place purchase orders with suppliers, vendors and contract manufacturers based on latest lead times to facilitate production schedule.
- Generate and maintain a demand plan for a given portfolio of products, locations and/or customers, at the levels (product hierarchy and time) at which business decisions are taken.
- Focus on and deliver a stable demand plan, taking into account recent events, along with achievement of Demand Plan Accuracy (DPA), controlled variability of accuracy and no systematic bias
- Monitor alerts to identify potential inventory problems through all planning horizons and coordinate efforts to resolve. Run, review and monitor reports and alerts on a weekly / Daily / Basis and act on the alerts to manage by exception, making work efficient.
- Collaborate with Factory Schedulers on the tactical execution of the production program and ensure alignment of planning parameters with the factory level constrains.
- Track and report component inventory at warehouses and co-manufacturer sites.
- Balance inventory levels between multiple warehouses by scheduling transfers
- Ensure that business planning is operated at the correct level of aggregation (product hierarchy and time).
- Actively follow-up actual sales to customers and sell-out data (POS) to identify exceptional or unforecasted activities.
- Drive fast, appropriate actions to minimize the impact of deviations from the Demand Plan. Communicate these actions to stakeholders.
- Coordinate and facilitate the Weekly Demand/Supply Review meetings; act as Process Owner of this meeting to ensure the process is an integral part of the planning and control process; send all follow ups and meetings notes.
- Main contact between Marketing and Sales with the factories and find/guide ways to communicate operational complexities.
- Create and maintain the appropriate master data in the planning systems, minimizing errors, avoiding duplication and obsolescence.
- Maintain system health to ensure demand signals are clear.
Requirements and Minimum Education Level:
- Bachelors in Business, Supply Chain or related
- 3+ years of dynamic and successful Supply Chain experience with strong and sustained performance, preferably in Supply planning or Deployment
- Proficiency in MS Excel, SAP APO. Familiarity with BW, MS Access, PowerPoint, and Word
- Strong analytical aptitude with a proven ability to analyze/interpret data and build quantitative models of business problems.
- APICS certification preferred
- Excellent oral and written skills, organizational and time-management abilities, effective inter-personal skills, and the ability to work with personnel at all organizational levels.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and deal with pushback as part of building a forecast with cross-functional partners
- Flexibility and adaptability to the demands and requirements of a fast-paced environment with multiple demands and priorities.
- Excellent creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing innovative solutions to complex problems that may not have one clear answer.
- Strong knowledge of continuous improvement processes and principles
